Macarena Hernández is an award-winning multimedia journalist and university professor. Macarena has lectured internationally and taught writing intensive and multimedia workshops and courses to people of all ages.Macarena, a former editorial columnist at The Dallas Morning News and the Rio Grande Valley Bureau Chief for TheSan Antonio Express-News, most recently taught at Baylor University where she was the Fred Hartman Distinguished Professor of Journalism.
Prior to that, she was the Victoria Advocate Endowed Professor in the Humanities at the University of Houston-Victoria. Her work has also appeared inThe New York Times, Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and PBS. Macarena has spent the last two decades also working with middle school and high school communities to help create strong writers, critical readers and smart media consumers.

Luz E. Herrera is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
Currently professor at Texas A&M University School of Law and Associate Dean for Experiential Education.
She ran her own practice and founded Community Lawyers, Inc., a non-profit organization that encourages access to affordable legal services and develops innovative opportunities for legal professionals in underserved communities. These experiences have influenced her scholarship that promotes legal “low bono” service delivery models and post-graduate support programs for lawyers starting their own law firms.
She currently serves as a special advisor for the American Bar Association’s Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities.
Prior to her current position, she was the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education, Experiential Learning and Public Service at UCLA School of Law. She has also taught as a visiting a visiting clinical professor at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, an assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, a visiting professor at Chapman University School of Law and a Senior Clinical Fellow at Harvard Law School. In her various academic positions, Dean Herrera encouraged innovation and promoted access to justice through experiential learning.
